About Our Orientations
Orientation sessions are offered each month for community members interested in joining the RFL movement in Washoe County. After an orientation, individuals can choose to participate on one or more of our workgroups:

Education Workgroup – focused on expanding nontraditional, alternative educational settings; increasing the number of youth graduating from high school and continuing on an educational path; and increasing employability skills.
Employment Workgroup – working to expand business community partnerships offering paid internships, coaches/mentors, and job shadowing opportunities, and entrepreneurial training; develop marketing, orientation, and implementation tools to assist business in offering internships and training opportunities; and, employ at least 15 Foster Youth in growth- opportunity positions.
Policy, Sustainability & Systems Change Workgroup – leading the efforts to support/promote the statewide 2011 Ready for Life Legislative Platform in Washoe County; increase occurrences of flexible schedules and hours [for education and training]; identify needed changes in organizational, county or state policies or laws to improve educational and employment outcomes for youth; expand and coordinate data systems & information sharing to better serve youth.
